100 to London Challenge

Gary McKee, known affectionately as the “Marathon Man” of Cleator Moor, Cumbria, is undertaking another monumental challenge: 100 marathons in 100 consecutive days, ending with the London Marathon, to raise £100,000 for Hospice At Home West Cumbria.

This big push will bring his total fundraising for the charity to an incredible £1 million.

Joining him on this journey is his son, Beau McKee, who will also run every day for 100 days, culminating in the London Marathon alongside his dad. Their shared finish line will be a proud moment for a family that has dedicated itself to making a difference.

A Lifelong Commitment to Fundraising

Gary has been fundraising for nearly two decades, driven by a deep sense of purpose and a desire to honour the memory of his late father.

Gary’s fundraising journey began with Macmillan Cancer Support. His efforts have helped families facing cancer across the region. Gary’s fundraising provides vital financial support and emotional comfort to families during their darkest times.

In 2022, Gary ran a marathon every single day for a year, raising £1.4 million split between Macmillan and Hospice At Home. He often completed his daily marathon before heading to work at the Sellafield nuclear site, a testament to his discipline and dedication.

In recognition of his extraordinary contributions, in 2023 Gary was appointed Vice President of Hospice At Home West Cumbria and won the Endurance Fundraiser Of The Year JustGiving Award.
